Mr. Miecznikowski served on many parks and recreation boards, including as chair of the Western New York Parks Conference and in various activities with the Niagara Frontier Recreation and Parks Society. He was influential in the development of the Allegany State Park master plan and the development of Midway State Park in Bemus Point. He also received numerous awards for his work in the field, including the Adirondack Mountain Clubs Niagara Frontier Conservationist of the Year and the Niagara Frontier Recreation & Parks Societys award of excellence in the field of recreation, parks and conservation. A noted antique collector and dealer, he enjoyed woodworking, was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, as well as a little league baseball architectural woodworking coach. Mr. Miecznikowskis wife, the former Melanie Schwabenbauer, died in 2014. Survivors include son, Michael; daughter, Rebecca Wilson; sisters, Christine Maciejewski and Janice Laurie; and one grandson.
